It is believed that the children were trapped in their dormitory when the fire broke out in Tahfiz Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah.
According to Khirudin Drahman, director of the fire and rescue department, it was one of the worst fire disasters in the country over the past 20 years.
Reported to the victims of the report, 22 boys were 13 to 17 years old while the two were staff members.
Today, the fire is still investigating but is believed to be due to a short circuit or a light mosquito repellent coil.
